Legal Basis
As per the Hungarian Permanent Residency Act CCXX of 2012: "a third-country citizen's stay in Hungary is considered to be 'in the interest of the national economy' in particular if: a) The third-country citizen who applies verifies that he/she own(s) security with a face value of at least EUR 300,000 and with a maturity of at least five years."

Application Process For Hungary Guest Investor Program
Expected timeframe: 4-6 months.

Passport pre-screening
Pre-screening of passport copy for government pre-approval. Down payment of professional fees required to open application.

Category D visa application
Investor initiates application for temporary Category D visa through nearest Hungarian consulate or embassy.

Visit Hungary & apply
Upon visa D approval, investor must visit Hungary within 93 days for identity verification with property fund representative, signing investment documents, and opening investment account. Residency application submitted same day or next day. Plan 2 business days in Budapest.

Complete the investment
Investment must be completed within 3 months of residence application submission. Approval takes 21-30 days after Codex confirms investment receipt and issues certificate.

Residency card issuance
Guest investor residency card issuance typically takes 7 days after approval. Card valid for 10 years and renewable.
