Study in Canada

A study permit allows for international students to live and study within Canada at a college or university that has been approved for international students. This is not a visa and does not allow entry into Canada. A visitor’s visa or travel authorization must be provided with your study permit to allow you to enter the country. If you are going to travel to your home country for any reason it is necessary to be sure that your visitor visa or travel authorization is still valid on your return date.

A study permit is valid only for the length of your program and 90 days to either make arrangements to return home or to extend your study permit. You may or may not be allowed to work during this time, it is important to ensure eligibility and to apply for all applicable permits before entering Canada.
